HMO Mortgages

Houses of Multiple Occupancy are a specialist type of buy to let mortgage which caters for people renting their properties out to three or more unrelated individuals who share common facilities such as the kitchen or bathroom.

Student accommodation and bedsits are the most common types.

If you are looking to maximise your rental income, an HMO mortgage may suit you.
There are of course drawbacks to HMOs with the most obvious ones being that they require more time and effort to run and maintain.

If you want to rent out your property as a house in multiple occupation in England or Wales you must contact your council to check if you need a licence.
